Abstract
This study traces the root causes of terrorism in West Africa, focusing on Nigeria, Mali and Niger. This exploration is conducted within the framework of the relative deprivation and the greed and grievance theories. The relative deprivation theory is often used to analyse contexts of perceived inequality and injustice. It describes how individuals respond to their socio-economic conditions.
