The production of literature is a cultural process. A literary work is therefore used for affirming or transforming the relationship between man and his environment. The science
of semiotics studies all cultural processes including literature as processes of communication (Eco 1976:8). The ultimate aim of a semiotic approach to a literary work is to establish the way in which the writer attempts to transform the world vision
