Abstract
This study aimed to map the interlinkages among institutions, foreign direct investment (FDI) and economic growth for the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region for the period 1996 to 2016. The researcher examined the effects of the interaction of institutions and FDI on economic growth. In the process, the researcher examined the interrelationship between institutions and FDI and whether there is a complementary relationship between institutions and FDI in determining the economic growth of the FDI-recipient country. The results of this study show that institutions play a significant role in determining FDI inflows into SADC countries and there is a positive correlation between FDI and economic growth.
