Abstract
The aim of this study was the stereospecific total synthesis of 11-oxa-,
10,11-dioxa- and 7,10,11-trioxaprostaglandin derivatives. Using the
known chirality of Q-Q-glucose the above-mentioned heteroprostaglandins
were synthesized by a series of stereospecific chemical transformations.
An attempt to synthesize a 7,11-dioxaprostaglandin derivative was unsuccessful.
Prostaglandins as physiologically active natural products have a great
potential as medicinals in phaacology and the series of heteroprostaglandins
synthesized may have a specific mode of action, especially where the
suppresion of gastric acid secretion is concerned.
