Developmental dyslexia affects between 10 − 17 % of the population, regardless of culture, class or gender, in countries with alphabetical languages (Dyslexia International, 2017; Shaywitz, 1998). This figure has been found to be as low 3.9 % in countries such as China where people speak and read non-alphabetical languages (Sun, Zou, Zhang, Mo, Shao, & Zhong, et al., 2013).
