Abstract
Although there has been much debate about
biodiesel production, only now is the government showing
real interest in the sector. Small scale biodiesel production has
been running for more than a decade, despite all the challenges
faced by biodiesel producers. The industry remains gripped by
so many challenges hampering its prospects for economic
development, employment creation and alternative energy
production. This paper argues that there is a need for
comprehensive government support, including the protection
and availing of UVO to local producers if the emerging
industry should sustain.
