Abstract
Organisations are facing many influences of change due to the changing global environment. Public institutions such as higher education institutions (HEIs) are not excluded from these influences. The most prominent influences are referred to as driving forces, change drivers or drivers of industry development and evolutionary processes.
To enhance understanding of the topic of drivers, an initial study was conducted to clarify the concept of drivers and to differentiate it from similar concepts.
