Abstract
Digital infrastructure development has become a monumental force in society's and in fostering entrepreneurship. The transformations in ICT due to 4IR digital technologies have become a launchpad for a plethora of entrepreneurial opportunities the world over. Thus, this research seeks to check whether digital infrastructure development has indeed incentivized entrepreneurship in the SADC region. The study utilitizes a descriptive statistical analytical framework to check the decisiveness of digital ICT technologies on entrepreneurship, using annual time-series data for the period 2008 to 2022 on the variable indicators for 14 countries in the SADC region. The research finds existence of a negative partial correlation between digital infrastructure technologies and the measure of entrepreneurship for SADC, despite the overall upward trajectory of ICT infrastructure development in the region. The research contributes to the body of knowledge on the relationship between digital infrastructure development and entrepreneurship via a focus on the SADC region. It is recommended that additional investments in fixed broadband internet infrastructure, greater focus on turning informal settlements into more urban areas and further improvements in the education and skills quality in the region are required to buoy SADC's digital infrastructure to levels that can catalyze entrepreneurship.
